Pretreatment Banner

Various inspections are conducted by the Littleton/Englewood Wastewater Treatment Plant Pretreatment Division (Division) staff at facilities that discharge or have the potential to discharge process wastewater containing specific pollutants (e.g., animal oil and grease, petroleum oil and grease, silver) to the publicly owned treatment works (POTW). Each of these pollutants is discharged from a large sector (e.g., restaurants, auto repair, photo processors, health care facilities and dentists) of users of the POTW, and the cumulative affect can cause pass-through of pollutants through the wastewater treatment plant or interference with the POTW.  The Division is required to control these unwanted discharges, and Sector Control Programs have been selected as the most effective and efficient control mechanism.
