WELCOME to the Littleton/Englewood Wastewater Treatment Plant’s Pretreatment Division web site. The Pretreatment Division is established to implement a federally-mandated Clean Water Act program that is intended to protect the Plant from pollutants that would cause Plant operation interference or that would pass through the plant and into the Platte River. The program is also designed to protect the Plant’s collection system, workers, and the environment from harm that could result from pollutants in wastewater discharges. Industrial/commercial facilities within the Plant’s service area are subject to Pretreatment Program controls and regulations.
The Pretreatment Program is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and authorized by the two City’s municipal codes. The EPA requires program compliance through escalating enforcement activities as necessary. The Pretreatment Division focuses its efforts first on outreach and active collaboration with its regulated users in order to affect compliance.
The Pretreatment Division staff encourages its commercial/industrial users to use this web site and contacts to help with Pretreatment regulatory compliance.
